Pokémon TCG Pocket: Mythical Island Release Date and Key Features Revealed
The Pokémon TCG Pocket: Mythical Island Expansion is set to release on December 17, marking the game’s first significant update since its debut. The Pokémon Company also revealed that the app has been downloaded over 60 million times worldwide, highlighting its growing success.
While the complete list of cards hasn’t been revealed yet, we do know that the expansion will introduce at least five new Pokémon ex cards, along with several new Trainer cards, such as Blue and Leaf. This is particularly exciting for players, as Pokémon ex cards and Trainers play a crucial role in building strong decks in TCG Pocket.
So far, we’ve caught a glimpse of some of the new ex cards, including Mew ex, Aerodactyl ex, and Celebi ex. The expansion will also feature additional full art cards, and reports hint that there will be a new immersive art card, though it hasn’t been officially unveiled yet. It’s unlikely that Mew will be featured in this new art card, as it already has a secret full art version available for unlocking.
What is Pokemon TCG Pocket ?
Pokémon TCG Pocket is a mobile app that offers a fresh take on the classic Pokémon card game. It serves as a modern version of the traditional Trading Card Game (TCG), introducing new cards with unique abilities and effects. The game simplifies the rules to make it more accessible, while still bringing in nostalgic artwork from the original TCG, as well as new, eye-catching visuals. This blend of familiar elements and exciting new features makes it perfect for both long-time players and those just starting out.
Who Created Pokémon TCG Pocket?
Pokémon TCG Pocket was created through a partnership between several key companies involved in the Pokémon franchise. The Pokémon Company, the main force behind the brand, teamed up with Creatures Inc., a co-owner of Pokémon responsible for both the TCG and various Pokémon games. DeNa, a mobile game developer with experience in the Pokémon series through titles like Pokémon Masters EX, also played a key role in the game’s development. To strengthen their collaboration, DeNa established the Pokémon Card D Studio on April 26, 2024. In this new subsidiary, DeNa holds the majority of the shares, while The Pokémon Company owns a minority stake, enhancing their teamwork for future projects.
